You're doing yourself a massive disservice by using OOo :-( I say that as someone who loved and used (and even contributed to) OOo for many many years - even back when it was known only as StarOffice. limping along like a zombie since 2012-ish. It's a dead project and has been dead, well. I will continue to shout that from the rooftops, so long as people keep expecting new features to simply be implemented by magic :-) If you really want them, you can make them happen quicker by helping our volunteers, or funding developers." So it's not "Do it yourself", but "Please consider that someone has to implement these features. However, the vast majority of users - who get a completely free office suite, due to the hard work of thousands of people around the world - simply expect new features to happen. LibreOffice has tens of millions of users, and if just a tiny, tiny fraction of them contributed time, effort and funds back, we could have all these features. It's not saying, "Do it yourself" - it's pointing out that features don't just appear by magic, no matter how many people request them. The user base will eventually respond via usage statistics.Īnd speaking of Windows and macOS platforms, LibreOffice is distributed via the official application stores for a fee, although these are provided by individual companies, they are both advertised on the main page of LibreOffice.Īnd here, no one should have the right to tell the user to go and do it himself/herself And yes, it is the responsibility of the distributer body to ensure these functions are provided to the users of the specific platform.Īnd here, no one should have the right to tell the user to go and do it himself/herself - instead if the organisation is unable to provide a solution to the complaint, they should take the criticism gracefully and continue what they are doing. Yes, people will complain if the provided software advertises itself as a significant alternative to another big proprietary software but fails to deliver basic usability features on the platforms they are provided/distributed on. No offence but I tend to read these kinds of replies as a big "f%&k you" to the users, especially if they are coming from an official representative of the said software/organisation.
